What is happening mon ami!!!!

So no dilly dallying today as it is Thanksgiving here in Canada (actually it's tomorrow, but friends of mine are celebrating it today) and I have a dinner to get to and some successful body vital behaviours that I have to manage...Yee Haw!!

Here's the scoop. I had great success transforming how I looked back in 2011, 2012 and the early part of 2013 and then over time, bad habits and faulty logic began to creep back in and soon I was pretty much back to where I once was; overweight and not liking the look of the body I had created for myself.

Towards the end of 2018 I realized that my life goes as my body goes. If my body isn't where I want it to be my life and my business also isn't where I want it to be. So I decided to build a program for myself that would address the problem once and for all.

And it worked wonderfully well. I...

[S2] Episode #5: Why positive thinking is useless

Hola!! Hope you are well my friend.

Got a NEW SHOW for you today! In this episode I share a case study of a major mindset mistake I see many people make when they are interacting within online communities.

Here is what I dig into...

  1. The difference between 1st Level Thinking vs. 2nd Level Thinking (hat tip to investor Howard Marks for this brilliant concept).
  2. Why you should NOT be asking advice from this group of people...EVER!
  3. Why positive thinking is useless when it comes to helping you solve complex problems.

As always, be sure you pay attention to your own thoughts that arise and look to steal the principles that you can apply to all the most important areas of your life.

OK! Go be awesome today mon ami!

Your friendly neighbourhood mental conditioning coach,

[S2] Episode #4: Everything is figure-out-able

In today's episode I dive into a mindset that I absolutely love. EVERYTHING IS FIGURE-OUT-ABLE.

The show is based on a mindset that I discovered from a gal doing amazing things in the world, Marie Forleo. Coincidentally, she recently published a book by the same name. You should definitely check that out.

Here is what I dig into in today's show...

  1. How a rabbit taught me to believe in this mindset, even though things didn't turn out quite as well as I hoped.
  2. A story about my cat, his bad attitude (oh it's baaaaddddd!) and how I reframed and solved a problem that I falsely believed was impossible to solve.
  3. Why you need to be careful how you frame the problems in your life so you aren't inadvertently eliminating the possibility for finding a solution.

And don't forget to pay attention to the thoughts that arise as you are listening. Acknowledge them,...

[S2] Episode #3: Building your ground zero skills

Hola mon ami.

Sorry today's episode is a little late. I just made my move back to Toronto last night. My place was a mess (A major renovation and a year of dust collecting will do that) so by the time I got some sort of order to my little hut, it was 12:00 am and I was exhausted. (Ah poor Dean and his first world problems!)

But I am back at it today and ready to share something I think you will find incredibly valuable.

In today's episode I hit on some big ideas around a concept I call Ground Zero Skills. This is a mindset I think about often, especially in a time where job security for most no longer exists.

The show is based on a hypothetical question.

If you lost everything financially today and you had nothing but a laptop and an internet connection, what skills do you possess {{first_name}} that would allow you to begin making...

[S2] Episode #2: The power of making relationship deposits

How are you my friend?

So listen. I got a cool show for you today. It's actually a lost episode. I recorded this 3 months ago (Canada Day Long Weekend) and completely forgot about it. But I just had a listen and it's too good not to share.

In today's episode I hit on some big ideas around the Relationship Deposit Mindset.

This is a mindset I practice every single day.

It's always my goal to make a relationship deposit. By that I mean I am always looking to add value to someone's life so that when they exit the transaction their life is better than it was before.

Here is what I dig into in today's show...

  1. I share the story of something that happened to me with a few Starbucks employees and how I discovered that my behaviour is contagious and can impact others on my behave, even when I myself am not physically present.
  2. I break down some of the...

[S2] Episode #1: The awesomeness of aging

How are my friend?

Dean Dwyer here. So a few things. I'm starting season two of the mindset show.  Season one now has 25 episodes. That seemed like a good place to end it.

In today's episode I hit on 3 big ideas about the awesomeness of aging as I enter my 54th year on the planet - or day 19,710 for those playing along at home.

  1. Why I don't post my birthday on my Facebook page. It has something to do with our human hardwiring to follow the herd.
  2. Why getting to today is truly a miracle we need to do a better job embracing and celebrating.
  3. Why getting older is awesome and how it's possible to live more in the upcoming year than the previous ten.

Regardless of how old you are, you will find a few valuable mindsets in today's episode that will positively impact your life moving forward.

Ok that's it. Remember to pay attention to the thoughts that bubble to...

Episode #25: Why I do 5-minute abs.

What's going on my friend?

Dean Dwyer here. If you have been listening to these shows, then you have heard me mention that I designed a program for myself called 5-minute abs. (Don't you dare think of one-upping me or is it one-downing me with 4-minute abs!!)

It has worked remarkably well, much to the surprise of my abs.

Well a young man from New York (who coincidentally owns a super cool acting studio that sports Oscar winner Sam Rockwell as a former student) asked me if I could elaborate on what I do.

So I thought I would use this podcast to do that.

BUT I will go one better. Not only will I tell you what I do, but I will tell you the 4 WHYS behind WHAT I do. The WHYS are far more valuable to you than my WHAT.

There will be lots of ideas for you to steal in this one. Let you mind run wild with the...

Episode #24: Think like Warren Buffett

I thought I would take you behind the scenes and share something from my journal. One of the most challenging aspects of building a successful body is the emotional flattening we experience when things continually don't go the way we planned.

In today's episode, I share some thoughts on what we can learn from Warren Buffett and the ability to think more rationally.

Oh and I did my second Facebook Live yesterday. I talked about one of the vital behaviours on my Score Card for Success and how and why I use it. I do promise laughs.

That's it my friend. Have an amazing rest of your day.

Now go do something remarkable.

Episode #23: Turning failure into wisdom.

What's going on my friend?

So I think you will find today's podcast quite amusing.

In the last episode I went into detail about how I use my willpower protocol to build and maintain my version of a successful body when attending events that are outside my control.

And I loved doing the before and after format so I could model the thinking behind how and why I do what I do.

BUT, it wasn't until after I released the podcast that I discovered there was a problem. I told you my plan was implemented perfectly. I discovered the next morning that IT WAS NOT.

Here's how I found out.

Step 5 in the willpower protocol is to extract wisdom. I always do that the morning after. So when I sat down to review the previous day, I uncovered 3 mistakes that I did not know I had made when I...

Episode #22: The truth about willpower.

Today's podcast is a before and after about an all day birthday party I was attending.

One mistake many make in their quest to build a successful body is they show up to difficult situations cold.

They do no preparation before the event to ensure their success. Well not me. Building a successful body is a deliberate act of discipline.

In today's episode I walk you through the mental conditioning I performed before the party to skew success in my favour. I followed my 5-step willpower protocol that helps people build Deliberate Discipline so they can achieve their own successful body.

Immediately following the event I did a follow up podcast and discussed the outcomes I achieved and the wisdom I extracted.

Enjoy and, if I haven't said it enough lately, "You're awesome!"
